Our Story
Mokambo was founded in 1948 by the Greek Khawaja Basili in Alexandria, and then, after a few years, an ambitious young Egyptian managed to progress from a small job to become the first chef in the place. Specifically in 1967, despite his young age, this young man was able to buy the entire shop from the Greek Khawaja, after the displacement of foreign communities from Egypt, to begin his journey as one of the most famous bakeries and sweets providers in Alexandria with Greek experience and a unique Egyptian character.
In the beginning, there were many challenges, the idea of a young man owning a leading bakery and sweets shop at that time was a challenge in itself. But this young man was able to face these challenges and get out of them with unprecedented results, so Mocambo offers more than a hundred items and is a pioneer in the bakery and sweets industry. The journey continued with the emergence of the second generation of Mokambo owners with a new spirit and a new thought aiming for development and expansion while maintaining the same character inherited nearly seventy years ago. Until now, we have always strived to provide a bakery and sweets series that combines diversity in products, simplicity with excellence in taste, with great care in choosing the best materials and the most skilled workers.
